This was a collaborative student project. We're we took a space and created an outer space themed installation using only brown paper. It challenged our problem solving ablities as we had to manipulate the material around the existing architecture and make it strong enough to stand for a duration of 1 week.
I worked mainly on the corridors and entrance of the installation. Bringing elements of the design within the main space into this area to make it cohesive. Repetition of patterns were placed onto the cardboard walls to give a bold, hard visual, as we wanted to show a geometric interpretation of the outer space theme.
As this was a static installation we added sound and lighting to give a sense of presence, atmosphere and a story line to enhance the viewers experience. We wanted to show an intense moment in time and through the usage of all these elements we were able to create an overwhelming feeling over our audience.
Working on this project enhanced my architecture awareness and structure problem solving. What we did was taking what we already had in terms of interior and transforming it into something entirly different through our team work and creativity as a collaboration.
